Trying something new. It was getting too complicated and overwhelming to think about calculated days that weren't starting from Jan 1st so am hoping this is easier and less of a hurdle for my ADHD self.

I was also contemplating just forgetting all this because clearly it hasn't been the success I imagined, and possibly moving over to paper journaling because not everything needs to be online, but I bought this space so I might as well use it. Not that I expect anyone else to read it, but I do need some sort of accountability.

Because even if my journaling efforts have been a bit of a miss, the "No Buy Year" is somewhat successful. Not perfect, but I have been more mindful than I would have been if I hadn't created a "project" to keep me even marginally accountable.

Yes, I wish I would have started this yesterday to start at the beginnign of the year, but I'm here today.

And pleased to report I haven't spent money on anything superfluous! I did get tempted on a clothing sale, even making a cart. But I walked away. I deleted the tab. I reminded myself of how much clothes I still have.

I also did a browse at the makeup place but didn't buy anything. I did get a delivery today from a purchase I made last week (last year!), where I cashed in points and spent a whopping 70 cents. I got 2 liter shampoos, 1 liter conditioner, an eyeshadow stick that I'd been wishing were back in my collection because it made my "get up and go" work makeup life so easy, and tossed in a freebee GWP just because I'd met the minimum and thought the bag was cute.

Which is a good thing, because the actual contents of the GWP were different from what was advertised. I have a lot more perfume samples than I thought I would, and less hair samples, but whatever, it isn't makeup tha tI won't use. I'll likely just toss the foils because I'll never use them, although I'm pleased to have a sample pack of acne patches because I can use them, never remember to purchase them since I only need them a few times a year.

I'd like to still make the secondary tier at the Orange Cosmetics place just because I don't want to stress about expiring points. Considering I barely made it last year, I'm almost worried about making it this year, but I shouldn't be worried on the second day of the year about making sure I spend $500 in cosmetics. The goal is to hopefully wait until my birthday to purchase anything, but I'll allow myself to check out a couple of the big sales and only buy something if it's something I could really use. But I'm becoming more and more aware of my backstock and how long it takes for me to use up items, so I also may try to ignore all the marketing.

Oh, and I did succumb to a $200+ impulse purchase of some Shinies in the inbetween week of the holidays but that week doesn't really count, right?
