05.2025

Confession time: I spent $47.79 at the Black and White store.

I haven't purchased from there in a couple of years and when I do, it's generally in January because that's when they have my birthday listed (by default, I think, because when I first signed up for an account, I didn't put in my birthday).

I bought two things I did not need and am getting the birthday giftset plus a couple of other freebies that I also do not need. I am a shiny sinner.

But I wanted the items! I was clearing out clutter and remembered how much I really like a specific mascara that can only be purchased there, plus this brand has a new release of shadow sticks that is my current weakness – but I only bought one. Such restraint!

The birthday gift and freebies are items I know I like and will use and will actually be saved for the Big Trip of 2025 because they will be ideal for that trip.

Does this fit in the spirit of a No Buy Year?

Definitely not.

Is it shameful that I already broke my no buy streak within the first week of the year?

Yeah probably.

But I don't have a desire to continue to shop for cosmetic Shinies. I'm still going through and organizing what I have and I want to focus on what I already own. Yes, I am adding more, but I am getting rid of things and choosing to focus on the things that bring me joy.

I've probably gone overboard on getting new eyeshadow sticks but I know this will last me through the year and longer.

So could I have easily lived without this purchase? Yeah, sure. But will I immediately begin to enjoy this purchase and not relegate it to new purchase purgatory? Yes!

I'm ready to buy to use right away and not to collect.
