I'm trying to be more aware of waste and frugality in other aspects of my life beyond the go-to Unnecessary Shiny Things.
Currently working on a project to clear out the stand alone freezer, which is also a bit ancient and needs a new door gasket because freezer burn is a definite concern. The pandemic and uncertain employment meant buying during sales and freezing a lot of things "for later" but never actually stopping the "buy when cheap, shove in freezer" urge the past few years.
So the goal is to gradually clear out the freezer, which means that yes, I may have to skip "really good sales" because we have a shelf full of frozen chicken. The idea is that even if it doesn't turn out well because of too much freezer burn, we can just make a sandwich.
Yes, while there is concern about inflation and the cost of groceries forever going up, right now unless it is an incredibly good deal (like holiday ham), I am skipping it. I need to clear out the freezer(s), pantry, and fridge.
Use what we have – the overall goal, even when it comes to food.
Which meant today was a questionable frozen pizza that was at least a year old and while it wasn't the greatest, it was edible, and it kept us from getting take out.
