I feel like I have a good plan how to tackle the house.
We don't have any trips hanging over our heads this year. At least, not knowingly. Knock on wood that everyone is in good health and stays safe to ward off funerals for the year.
Anyway, since there isn't anything I need to worry about taking up my free days, I can focus on actually working on the house. My goal is to have all of our stuff out of storage before we go on our Much Smaller Big Trip that we hurried to rearrange this year.
I want the rooms to be more functional than just a dumping ground of things.
It's been over five years since we dealt with a ton of trauma and just used the home as a landing place. I tried to get my dopamine fix by all the Shinies but have no where to put them. My mother still has to deal with the belongings of loved ones and where to put things.
It's time to finally declutter and get some breathing room back.
So I told Mum all the plans and although I know it will be difficult for her (she's more the sentimental hoarder, whereas I'm "just" an ADHD disaster who likes Shinies), I think we can make a lot of great progress this year.
In fact, just yesterday, I managed to go through a couple of things in the kitchen in anticipation of the new storage, and we got rid of maybe half the items, so I call that a win!
The kitchen will be the first focus because that's the heart of the house, and I desperately need more counter space to get the urge to start cooking again.
