I spent $108.96 on items from the Orange Cosmetic store. On the bright side, a full quarter is the longest break I've taken from spending from that store in years. I'm hoping to continue the streak after today.
This whole tariff fiasco is really putting into clarity what I can live without. But I did worry about my favorite sunscreen that I get from Asia. I stocked up on a couple of bottles after the election because I knew the tariffs would be a thing and hoping it would get me through a year when maybe things would calm down again.
But I had another mini panic this morning. Instead of figuring out how to get the Asian sunscreen, I looked at the Orange Cosmetic store to figure out what I could transition to locally. They have a sale going on for drug-store brands and I picked up some sunscreen that I know I like for the body and a couple of others to test out.
Then I added a couple of items that may be difficult to get in the future since they are a European brand so I could also reach a threshold that would add plenty of bonus points that is a perk just for today, so I will be ready for my $125 cash-in, something that would have taken me the entire year to do. So if I don't make the tier where points never expire this year, I will still get the best dollar for point value (to most likely use for more shampoo/conditioner during the big sale).
So I was a little foolish, spending money that maybe I didn't really need to. But I will need sunscreen and hand cream. I may not necessarily need a scalp scrub, but I only have a couple travel size containers of my favorite expensive brand from Europe, so I wanted to dry a cheaper option while it was on sale.
But I refuse to buy any more clothes, despite the fact I was very nearly tempted yesterday. It's not just about wanted to stick to a budget and a No Buy Year, but also to prove a point the billionaires (that they will never really notice, but it makes me feel better).
