Day 5 - First Day

Other than sticking up the middle finger to the gods of capitalism, another reason for the NBY is that I have been unemployed the last few months. Not by choice. Prior job downsized and thus I was set free. I may have spiraled a little (it's always fun celebrating a birthday weeks after being laid off) but I rebounded, fought my way through the current terrible, terrible, terrible economy, and managed to land a job. Hooray!

My first day was today.

Anyway, I did burn through quite a bit of my savings, and it was ridiculous, I know. I logically know how to be smart about money and life choices, but my spirit is wild and free and sometimes very, very stupid. So I bought things to make me happy, to get that little dopamine hit. Until I saw my dwindling back balance.

But we are back on track! Going to receive regular paychecks!

Sure, it's not quite as much as I was making before, but I couldn't afford to be too choosy (have I mentioned what truly awful job market it is right now?). And it had so many other things on my "pro" column that the only negative was the slightly lower salary, so here we are.
